Orthokeratology Lenses

Orthokeratology lenses are specialty lenses worn overnight that gently reshape the cornea while you sleep, giving you clear vision throughout the day. Clinically proven to slow myopia progression in children, they are also an excellent option for patients with dry eye or anyone who prefers freedom from glasses and contact lenses during waking hours.

At SCL Studio, orthokeratology lenses are designed using a detailed scan of the eye rather than traditional trial-and-error fitting, resulting in a highly customized lens from the very first appointment. Please inquire to find out if you are a good candidate.

Impression-based Lenses

A impression-based scleral lens is designed from a physical impression mold of your eye and is the most customized scleral lens option available. An ocular impression captures the precise shape of your ocular surface, giving us a level of details other methods cannot.

The impression process takes a few minutes per eye and is painless. Most patients describe the sensation as similar to having a scleral lens placed on the eye.

Because the lens is built directly from your eye's unique geometry, it is far more likely to fit well on the first attempt, and it offers customizations that simply aren't possible with other fitting methods.

This approach is ideal for:

  • Advanced keratoconus and other highly irregular corneas

  • Post-corneal transplant eyes

  • Significant ocular surface elevations such as pinguecula

Scan-based Lenses

A scan-based scleral lens is designed from a profilometry scan of your eye. It offers a high degree of customization through precise, contactless imaging. Our office uses the Pentacam AXL Wave, a top-of-the-line ocular surface imaging device, to map the detailed contours of your cornea and sclera. That data is then used in a highly customizable design software to create a lens shaped closely to your eye's unique geometry.

The scan process takes just a few minutes per eye and is completely painless, requiring littllecontact with the eye.

Because the lens is built from detailed surface data, it can be tailored closely to your eye from the start, allowing for a level of customization that goes well beyond a standard scleral lens fitting.
